Offline for a major site upgrade

 We're back!

Hi everyone, starting today around 1:00 PM (13:00) GMT, we'll be temporarily offline for approximately five hours as I work on a major upgrade of the BLF site engine and underlying infrastructure. I'll provide updates here as time permits, or whenever I remember to pull my eyes out of my terminal window.  :-)  See you back soon! Thanks for your patience.

  5. BLF website says it will be back online at 1800 GMT. That's 1300 EST or 1pm.

  6. Looks to be takin longer than expected...:O

  7. Hopefully, it wasn't a typo ("GMT" instead of "EST").

  11. If anyone hasn't seen them yet: Acebeam K50v3 - http://www.hkequipment.net/product-p/k50v3.htm

    Acebeam K70 - http://www.acebeam.com/k70-cree-xhp35-3600lm-throw-1300m

    Seem to be the same in lumens and intensity. I'm not sure a price on the K70 but the K50v3 is 189.99 with 422Kcd intensity, pretty good! The only difference I see so far because the K70 specs are hard to come by right now is the design, possibly UI?

  12. Maybe M4D M4X can get us a discount code on the K50v3. Not sure if I'd be interested though. Seems like the Nitecore TM16GT that I have is "good enough" for my purposes.

    1. I was a part of the group buy for the TM16GT, I do love the GT but I can't seem to get it to perform as well as others. Some can read 2.69 amps at the batteries but I can't get over 2.15 and I've tested with Sanyo GAs, Panasonic 18650bs, 30q's and Samsung 25r's all fully charged

  16. Received my Kronos X5 & X6 boxed set yesterday, #35 of 400. Box made it through shipping okay. Flashlights were a bit dirty from the black felt (?). Gently washed them off with soap and water and toweled them dry with a soft cotton cloth. They came out gleaming! A few miniscule scuffs and scratches, but in tip-top shape overall!

  23. These things have a tendency to take longer, it will be done when it's done.
    SB thanks for all the work!
    I hope you get it all up and running without too much stress.
    Now without BLF no need for internet so what better excuse for switching off all the power and play with our torches ;)

  25. As a fellow BLF'er, I'm also watching with baited breath. I feel that this fits quite well (as it does with many things!):

  26. I was actually on BLF when it went down. I saw the message and I'll admit... I sorta panicked a little. Lunch was weird. posting on a little blogshout while pretending it's BLF. lol Must sleep now so you have 7 hours or so SB before I freak. Heck of a compliment to the site you maintain though. Love BLF. J-Dub out...

  27. Wait a second.... Is this another delayed groupbuy?

  28. Curious that SB would start a thread for status updates, then doesn't post any updates. :P

  29. I work in networking... please let him work... things must not be going well, when it works it works but will not happen any sooner.

  30. I remember those long hours in front of a server trying to figure out why nothing is working after an update

  31. Keep up the good work, sb! We can be patient... ;)

  33. What way is the threading on SUpfire M6 driver retaining ring? Clockwise to tighten?

    1. Have you figured out what size mcpcb needs to be used for the emitters?

    2. Oh and I didn't have a chance to comment before the site went down but the light coming out of the metal tail switch on the blue S2+ Triple that you built is freaking awesome.

      Delete
    3. Other people have used 20mm mcpcb's, so that's what I'm banking on. I just can't get the stinking retaining ring to loosen up...

  34. Does the Acebeam k50 v3 look like a good stock thrower for 189.99? I would like to see the k70 or k50v3 in a group buy soon! Although I don't know if you can purchase a k70 yet.

  35. Sooo, bored that I took my XinTD C8 7135 driver out and threw a fet in.

  36. For those interested in 17mm DD+1 driver development, here is the latest iteration on the A17DD-L. This version uses mostly 0603 sized passives and has a lot of stuff...

    http://photo.jesusthepirate.com/blf/17mm_DD+single-7135/v022/top.PNG

    * The new, proposed, Zener for 1s setup.
    * 0805 OTC + 0603 pulldown
    * 0603 bleeder for PD's tailcap LEDs
    * Pin 3 pad as requested by Tom E
    * Maintains 1mm physical keepout for components and 0.5mm non-GND keepout.
    * 2mm BAT+ passthrough

    Of course it's still looking a little rough, but DRC seems to be OK. (Yes, I'm aware that the 7135 needs to be attached to LED-)

  37. Sounds like a nice update to a good driver.

    Sounds like I am going to have to get some 0605 stuff and some of the newer fets and I really need one or 2 attiny25's

  38. Hope everyone is OK without BLF.

    I did first reflow tonight thanks to Old-Lumens YouTube video.

  40. I hope the site's back up and running soon. I'm getting withdrawal symptoms. ;)

    Best of luck to whoever is the admin of the server/website.

  41. Make sure you spread a little peanut butter on each piece of bread, then put the jam in the middle. That way your sandwich won't get soggy
